and work to rehabilitate them for quality adoptable homes.
If a family situation isn't possible, then a Forever Home will be found at the Sanctuary. With over 85% currently being killed, we are transporting as many animals as possible to other states who believe in the No Kill Philosophy. -- www.nokilladvocacycenter.orgOur goal is to have 25-75 acres donated to our organization or offered at a 99 year lease with a $1 contract in some area of Cumberland County, TN. There are many land trust donation programs available benefiting the Donor. We hope to have additional acreage available as we progress with our plan. We could put Cumberland County on the map with this facility. Our vision could be implemented as soon as 2012. We are currently seeking grant funding and people to include us in their Estate Planning to help with the ongoing costs. We estimate needing over $200,000.00 a year to maintain the Sanctuary.
We are planning this Sanctuary Community to be as green as possible. We will use water recycling units, and much more. A local organization has offered assistance with this effort.
With an intake of over 2,000 animals community wide, I believe this project is necessary. The first step is to educate the public on the importance of spay and neuter. In addition, we must offer assistance with free spay and neuter programs for a public whose finances don't allow for it. As the years pass, the number of homeless animals in the community will decrease. Northern States and parts of Canada have proven this fact. This is the reason we are able to successfully transport our animals to them now.
